The N13 area is reserved for Palmers Green, a suburb approximately 12.2km north of the very heart of the capital. The name refers to a family who lived in the area from the mid 14th century. It started off as a hamlet in the parish of Edmonton, and until the 17th century there were just a handful of isolated houses in the area, but when the station was built in Aldermans Hill in 1871 it all changed. At the time, the station was about half a mile from the nearest house, but from the moment it arrived building started close to it, and moved outwards with the station as the heart of the area.
